SpicyGingerBiscuits, Pilot Lights, and Router Theology

I'm sure people are already doing this.
Perhaps they are very serious about it too.
Perhaps they call it their calling.
I need to be careful not to make fun of them.
Hmm.
I'm talking, of course, about giving any bluetooth-adjacent on-liners a daily one-liner bible study via creative router name.
This inspired thought came to me while staring at a packet of Spicy Ginger Biscuits on the same day as my new portable wifi was about to arrive.
(You can picture the collision if you like — Venn diagram-style — in the thinking space slightly above my head.)
New router + Spicy Ginger Biscuits = kaboom.
Strangely, this is what I suddenly thought:
I could rename my router SpicyGingerBiscuits!
And then I thought,
— OR, keep changing it daily.
Mess with any neighbours sharing the airspace.
Or, indeed, offer them a public service!
Maybe change their lives.
So much potential!
Let's try it out for size…
Day 1:
Router arrives.
No renaming yet.
Wifi is hovering over the potential. Currently formless and void.
Day 2:
It's unpackaged and ready for action.
Start with a splash:
Named: SPCIYGINGERBISCUITS
Day 3:
Realise, with horror, it's gone a whole 24 hours with a typo.
Nooo…! Not a good look.
Renamed: CTRLZ—OOPS
Day 4:
Time to mess with people, randomly and existentially.
Renamed: HELPWHEREISTHEDOOR
Day 5:
The day I suddenly realise I don't actually want the SAS turning up. Or anyone else showing proactive concern for my immediate welfare.
Better rectify that.
Renamed: IHAVEFOUNDTHEWAY
Day 6:
Oh. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. This looks very 1970s rainbow guitar strap and Jesus Saves stickers. It's out there now though. Got to commit.
Renamed: GOTTACOMMIT
Day 7:
It's Sunday, and I realise I've created an effortless virtual altar call.
Reminds me somehow of when the March for Jesus flame was carried across the nation in 1989, and when it reached our neck of the woods people around me wondered how to keep it burning until it was ready to move on. A domestic pilot light was the inventive solution. Someone's heating flame blown out then relit with holy fire.
Very sensible.
But — more importantly for me — so profound.
(Mental note to write about that.)
(So, so many blog posts, so little time…)
Anyway, the realisation hits me that most people don't think so much about the theology of router-naming.
Time I came back down to earth.
Renamed: SPICYGINGERBISCUITS
I think what I'm learning is to be more sensible.
More relatable.
