Sarah Orrell is a writer working across fiction and non-fiction, poetry, theatre and audio. She is interested in the shape life takes when we dive into it — or are forced to.
 

Sarah's work explores faith, imagination, suffering and belonging, and the ways people encounter one another — and deeper mysteries of faith — through story, language and attentive presence.

She holds an MA in Theopoetics and Writing from Bethany Theological Seminary in Richmond, Indiana, where her studies explored the relationship between Scripture, theatre, metaphor and language. She also holds a First-Class BA (Hons) in Humanities with Philosophy and a Master of Education.

Alongside her literary work, Sarah has written books and educational resources for publishers, and has worked in curriculum writing, eLearning and creative consultancy.

​

She also helped create and nurture an international online community of around 400 people living on the edges of faith, grief and displacement, travelling across the UK and to Sydney, Australia to meet members in person. Much of her writing and creative work developed within this space, including projects that later formed part of her master's work.

Her writing has been published and broadcast, and she continues to develop literary work across fiction and non-fiction, alongside poetry, theatre and radio, as well as songwriting and experimental projects.
