The Man With the Microscope, and the Man with the Telescope

There are a few things that are made a little more difficult when you have a microscope sellotaped to your head permanently.
For example, a nice cup of tea makes things rather steamy, and peeling a banana takes a bit more patience.
Mr Telescope Face wasn’t very hungry, so he looked at all the cakes he could see, and only chose some of them. Some was still a lot.
The assistant in the coffee shop was happy to serve him, but she needed help. Most of the chocolate chip cookies, most of the cinnamon buns, and every single blueberry muffin were brought to the table.
Mr Microscope Face was extremely hungry, so he chose every single thing he could see.
Not many people ordered just one crumb.
This was an unexpected treat for the goldfish bowl, which had also had a decent polish that morning.
The reflections jiggled — spinning, bendy, flashing, soft — like a special way to speak without words or pictures.
The mirror spoons cast jelly light on the water-fire universe of Quark’s world. His scales were doing very unusual things. He kept turning the colour of the cushions and the coffee.
But Quark said nothing.
